Vice President of Operations

The Vice President (VP), Operations will have the overall and daily operation of the Hay Institute. This is an executive position will be a part of the leadership team that drives the overall strategy for the organization and represents the Hay Institute on different levels. VP Of Operations will oversight the Finance, Talent Management, and IT Departments.


Program Leadership & Management:

Enhance, flesh out, and implement the organizational vision in all pragmatic activities
Ensure ongoing operational excellence.
Demonstrate the consistent quality of finance and administration, event planning, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the program goals. Act as the supervising watchdog and coordinator of all other sections of the organization making sure they are operating within the overall strategic and budgetary plans and regulations.  
Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performance leaders, empowering them to elevate their level of responsibility, span of control, and performance.

            External Relationships:

Secure venue and to support existing Operations and the growth of the Hay Institute; cultivate existing relationships and develop new relationships for further event planning and operational strategies.
Manage relationships with partner organizations in coordination with the other departments, President, and the board.

Knowledge Management:

- Develop the necessary systems, processes, and tools to better support the facilitation, collection, and sharing of knowledge that is generated by the Operations.
- Develop a dissemination system to share organizational learning with a broad range of communities.
- Ensure that other departments and parts of the organization are operating with the highest efficiency and in line with the set regulations and frameworks.


The VP, Operations will be thoroughly committed to the Hay Institute's strategy and mission. All candidates should have demonstrated leadership, event planning, and relationship management experience.

Specific requirements include:

Program Leadership and Management: This individual will have taken a hands-on approach in leading a variety of initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a track record of effectively leading events from A-Z. She or he will have developed and operationalized strategies that have taken a program or organization to the next stage of growth

Team Building and Development: The successful candidate will have recruited, managed, and developed a strong team of staff, program/project managers, and development professionals. This individual will serve as a “player/coach” to motivate and mentor his or her team

Exceptional Communication and Influencing Skills: As a voice/advocate the Hay Institute, the VP, Operations will have strong written and verbal communication skills.

She/he will be a persuasive, credible, and polished communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary skills including event management, IT, and finance. This individual must work collaboratively with internal as well as external partners and other organizations, providing exposure for program impact in a variety of professional media outlets. 

Relevant  degree, with management experience

Desired Education:

Master's degree in Business, Finance, Social Sciences, Management, Law, or Humanities required.
